I cannot recommend this gym enough! It is always super clean, tidy and coaches are amazing - very patient and professional. The atmosphere is always friendly and motivating and you can tell the staff is like a little family. It was my first experience with muay thai and fell in love with it thanks to the coach Earl. I also recommend group lessons, very good if you want intense conditioning.

I trained for one month at Core Combat Chiang Mai and had an amazing experience. I followed the Western Boxing classes, and despite already having some experience, I learned more in this single month than I did in the four years before. The level of expertise of the coaches is extremely high, and what impressed me most is how well they are able to transfer their knowledge. They really take the time to help you improve, paying attention to details and making sure you understand what you’re doing and why. The atmosphere at the gym is also fantastic. There is a lot of mutual respect between members, regardless of skill level. Everyone supports each other, and you immediately feel welcome. Most importantly, you feel safe and valued from day one. I would highly recommend Core Combat Chiang Mai to anyone who wants to seriously improve their boxing skills while training in a respectful and supportive environment

This will be a long one so if your TikTok-eroded attention span can't handle it... Summary: gym best 🏆. coach great 😁. environment much fun ✨. recommended is an understatement ‼️ If you'd really like to know... I believe this is the best gym I've stepped into and I am already planning my return to Chiang Mai, solely for the purpose of training here. So - what makes a great gym? For some it's the physical space/size, the equipment, the frequency of classes and location, number of students, how much it matches the image in your head of what a gym should be, how many black belts train there, what credentials the coaches have, etc. Well for one, Core Combat excels at nearly all of these, but where it stands out the most is the people. The students and environment are the reflection of a few people in particular: the coaches. Setting aside their martial arts prowess and how skilled the coaches are, where they shine is who they are as people. I tried nearly 10 gyms around Chiang Mai before I stepped foot into Core Combat, and within the first 10 minutes I knew that I had found my second home. Accepting that martial arts is generally a male-dominated sport, Coach Earl and Coach Sakan in particular stand as exemplars of how I believe men should be. They create an environment where students as young as 14, and older men who surprise me with their endurance and heart, all come together to sweat, laugh, train, and become fuller people in the process. I often spoke to the younger students after class, and what I heard on countless occasions was the immense respect they had for the Coaches. They are humble. They do not talk down upon anyone. They are playful and willing to roll with everyone. They're actually quite funny (you don't how much of a difference it makes till you experience it!). And above all, they teach with genuine passion and care for the betterment of students. And even despite it being a male-dominated sport, in my time there, I would hear - every single week - from female students that despite being one of the few in the class, they felt comfortable, engaged, respected, and welcome in the gym. I see Coaches that - not only through their words but especially their actions - exemplify and embody the spirit of martial art. Now for the training. I have not felt (whether it showed is up to the Coaches 😆) such improvement in my ability in as relatively short of a period of time as I have here. Compared to other gyms, including those back home in Vancouver, I felt that the drills and techniques taught here were incredibly effective in helping me develop a better understanding of the foundation of martial arts. It was not meaningless drills, but movement patterns that have arisen as a result of combined decades of the Coaches' experience. My training partners consistently helped me fill gaps in my technique, as I did in theirs. There was no element of selfishness and ego in competition, but rather camaraderie and collective betterment as a result of it. I had the opportunity to practice against professional fighters, amateur enthusiasts, and everyone in between. I stayed free of injury given the attitude of consideration and safety that the Coaches employ, and every day that I was not training, I looked forward to the next time I'd be able to step in. Fighting is an art, and I believe there is no better canvas than the hearty, sweaty (mostly because of me… thank you Jedi you’re the real MVP), passionate, and incomporable canvas that is Core Combat. To Coach Earl, Coach Sakan, Coach Monsier (whom I spoke to twice but smiled at every class! what a lovely gentleman), and to the fighters there - Jake in particular - I left Core Combat not only a better athlete, but a better person too. Thank you 🤝

I wanted to try Muay Thai while we’re staying in Chiang Mai for a vacation and very fortunate enough to have a friend living there who gave the opportunity for the experience to happen in Core Combat. The gym has an impressive facility and friendly staff! I’m also happy that their coaches are very approachable and knowlegeable. Coach Tong was really good in explaining and demonstrating the moves of the martial art while Coach Mob gladly assisted me with the proper stance of Muay Thai. I also enjoyed a sparring session with Coach Earl who really made it challenging but very fun! Core Combat does not only provide physical benefits but also instill valuable life skills to their clients❤️ All in all, I recommend Core Combat for people who want to try and learn martial arts. Great community! Fun experience! Hope to be back soon❤️

Highly recommend for both kids and adults looking for martial arts training! My child and husband both train with Coach Earl here. He’s incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and especially great with children - very patient and encouraging. The staff are extremely helpful and polite, making everyone feel welcome from day one. This place has an amazing community and atmosphere for anyone wanting to improve their self-defense skills, whether you’re just starting with basic training or looking to reach your full potential. Definitely worth checking out if you’re considering martial arts training for yourself or your family!
